Plastic Free July - Day 04: Shampoo do's and don'ts
It’s time for you to change up your shampoo routine, like now.
If you haven't heard already from your hairdresser or your savvy friend: It’s not good to wash your hair every day.
I know, I know. It was very difficult for me too, but I’ve recently switched to washing every 2-3 days instead of every day. My shampoo routine also doesn’t use any plastic because I now subscribe to Plaine Products shampoo and conditioner which is non-toxic, vegan, cruelty free and shipped to you in a metal bottle. When you are done, they send you a new one and you send your old one back for them to refill. Yes, there is plastic for the nozzle, but that gets reused indefinitely. Also, that’s only an additional option, so you could just pour it each time you shampoo.
Tons of brands are starting to offer shampoo bars now too. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on the docket. I’ll link to a few brands below.
Of course, you can always go all in and make your own shampoo… Let me know how that turns out in the comments if you try it!
